Alleging that Minister for Animal Husbandry A. Manju, who is also in-charge of Hassan district, was making efforts to shift the veterinary polyclinic in Hassan to Arkalgud, Hassan MLA H.S. Prakash here on Wednesday said the Minister would face severe protests if the idea was not dropped immediately.

Mr. Prakash told presspersons that he got information from the department that Mr. Manju had asked the Deputy Director to submit a proposal to shift the polyclinic to the Minister’s hometown. The Deputy Director of Hassan had submitted a proposal to the department, stating that the polyclinic could be shifted to Arkalgud and such a move would not affect residents of Hassan as the Government Veterinary College in the city also has a clinic. Earlier, the department had proposed to shift the polyclinic in Bidar to Arkalgud. Following protests by farmers in Bidar, the idea was dropped.
