One arrested in BJP activist murder case

The City Police has picked up five suspects for interrogation in the murder of BJP activist K. Raju, who was hacked to death at a road-side tea stall at Udayagiri in March this year.

Police sources also said they had recovered vehicles and mobile phones from the suspects.

City Police Commissioner B Dayananda, who confirmed that the City Crime Branch (CCB) was questioning the suspects, said the persons picked up by the sleuths were locals.

The interrogation of suspects comes almost five months after Raju was brutally killed while he was having tea with a friend at a road-side tea stall on M.G. Road at Udayagiri on March 13.

Meanwhile, Home Minister G. Parameshwara, who was in Mysuru on Monday to participate in the passing out parade of women police constables from the Police Training School, said the police had taken up the investigation into the case as a challenge. The investigation into the case was continuing with the City Police forming various teams to inquire into the matter by pursuing the available leads, he said.

Various pro-Hindu organisations along with BJP had protested against the delay in police action. The BJP had also observed a bundh in Mysuru in the wake of Raju’s murder.
