Former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Friday alleged that there was a trust deficit between bureaucrats and the State government, that was coming in the way of administration.
Participating in a debate on motion of thanks to Governor Vajubhai R. Vala’s address to the joint session, he accused the government of trying to misuse bureaucracy to suppress the Opposition. This attitude had not only demoralised honest officials, but also given raise to a trust deficit between them and the government, he maintained.
‘Treated like slaves’
He also alleged that the government was treating the bureaucrats “like slaves”. Mr. Kumaraswamy ridiculed the government for including the phrase that stressed the need for “compassion and tolerance” in the Governor’s address to the legislature, and asked if the government had these values.
“If you were compassionate, why would you brutally assault innocent farmers, especially octogenarian farm women, after a few persons protested over the Mahadayi water row?” he argued. Similarly, he accused the government of not being “tolerant” to Opposition parties by using government machinery to suppress them.
