Karnataka soldiers’ bodies to reach hometowns by Monday night

The mortal remains of Subedar Nagesh of Hassan and Sepoy Mahesha of Mysuru, who were >among the ten soldiers killed in the avalanche in Siachen , will arrive in Bengaluru on Monday evening.

According to the army and the airport protocol authorities, a service aircraft with the bodies of the soldiers had taken off from Leh Airforce base at 9.30 a.m. on Monday morning. After the >Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries pay their homage to the martyrs , the bodies of soldiers from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh will be flown in a service aircraft to Hyderabad.

After deplaning the bodies of soldiers from Andhra Pradesh, the aircraft will be refuelled and flown from Hyderabad to HAL airport. 

A statement from Ministry of Defence said the aircraft carrying the mortal remains of two soldiers from Karnataka and one from Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu will reach the HAL airport at 5 p.m. The Station Commander will receive the bodies, which will later be taken to their natives by road, the statement added.

Meanwhile, Sepoy Mahesha's brother Manjunatha told The Hindu that the family will receive the body at Mysuru on Monday night before proceeding to H.D. Kote. The last rites will be performed at their native village Pashupathi in K.R. Nagar on Tuesday with full military honours.
