Karnataka govt to consider cane farmers’ demands

Karnataka government on Tuesday assured to consider the long pending demands of the sugarcane farmers which includes providing compensation for the loss incurred due to erratic power supply.

Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa will be convening a meeting with the farmers’ representatives here on February 6 to discuss their grievances, Minister for Agriculture Marketing and Sugar, Shivaraj Thangadagi said in a statement.

Mr. Thangadagi earlier met around 800 farmers from sugarcane growing districts including Mandya, Davangere and Shimoga who staged a peaceful protest in the city in support of their demands.
