After spending three years and four months in Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Prison, mining baron and former Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy, accused in the illegal mining case, has been granted conditional bail by Supreme Court on Tuesday.

Though the bail has been granted, Reddy had to spend few more days in Jail till the prison authorities get a certified copy of the bail orders.

Though he was free to walk out of the prison, Reddy was directed by the court not to visit his home town Ballari and Kadapa where his Obalapuram Mining Company is situated and surrender his passport to the court.

The court has asked him to pay Rs. 20 lakh cash as surety and directed him to cooperate with the investigations and present himself before the investigating officer and the court without fail.

Reddy, who had earlier managed to get bail in four cases, was rejected bail by the CBI special court in Obalapuram Mining Company (OMC) illegal mining case filed by the CBI. Following this Reddy moved to Supreme Court and managed to obtain the bail.
