I’ve fulfilled my responsibilities: Pramoda Devi

Pramoda Devi Wadiyar has been busy this last year. After her husband Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar’s demise three years ago, Ms. Wadiyar’s responsibilities grew. With the strong support of her family and relatives, she came to terms with his death and took up the challenges.

In February last year, she adopted Yaduveer, who was coronated in May. Ms. Wadiyar has been overseeing all the arrangements for the ‘royal’ wedding. Excerpts of her talk with reporters after the wedding.

Your first reaction to the much-awaited wedding.

I must say I have fulfilled my responsibilities. Whatever was needed, I have done to the best of my abilities. I have ensured the traditions continue for future generations.

Are you happy?

Obviously. You can judge looking at my face.

Have all the ceremonies taken place as you expected?

I expect nothing. I don’t say what’s expected, but do what needs to be done. Goddess Chamundeshwari has supported me and will help me for the rest of my duties.
