Farmer commits suicide

In a tragic incident, a debt-ridden farmer committed suicide by coming in to contact with a live electric wire in a field at Chitrali village of Sindhanur taluk in Raichur district on Monday.

According to the police, the victim, Siddayyaswamy, 49, of Chitrali had borrowed ₹13 lakh, including ₹9 lakh from banks and ₹3 lakh from individuals, to develop his land. Siddayyaswamy died on the spot after coming in contact with the wire that supplies three-phase power to water pumpsets, sources said.

The Balaganur police have registered a case.
