Fulfilling the wish to bring online ticketing for popular tourist destinations in Mysuru on a government-backed server to avoid service charges, the Mysuru Palace Board is launching its online ticketing facility next month.
This will be the second destination after the Mysuru zoo, which launched e-ticketing five years ago, to offer such a facility to tourists.
Tourists felt e-ticketing for the palace should have been launched much before.
“Online ticketing for Mysuru palace is all set for launch. By February-end or March first week, the facility will be formally launched. The facility prevents long queues outside ticket counters and facilitates tourists buy tickets at ease,” said Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep, who is the Executive Officer for Mysuru Palace Board.
Mr. Randeep told The Hindu that e-ticketing options will further boost tourism and the zoo’s e-ticketing service may be integrated with the portal on the palace website — www.mysorepalace.gov.in — to bring the services on a common platform.
“This is just proposal and a final decision on this will be taken after consulting with the Forest Department and the Zoo Authority of Karnataka.”
Tourists need not bother about tickets or have to stand in queues for tickets. When they land at the palace premises, they should enter the palace effortlessly with e-tickets.
E-ticketing will attract no extra charges and tourists can buy tickets sitting from their home, office or hotel or on the go. The palace e-ticket facility will come with information on foreign exchange conversion rates for the convenience of foreign tourists for paying money for tickets.
Tourists can pay guide fees, parking fee and other additional facilities at the palace other than entry tickets through electronic payment. Counter sale of tickets at the palace will, however, go on and online ticketing will be an additional facility.
