Demand for houses to reduce in next few years: MLA

The demand for houses in Chitradurga taluk under government schemes will be reduced in the next few years as the authorities concerned have already started providing houses to beneficiaries as per the eligibility, G.H. Thippareddy, MLA, has said.

Speaking after distributing property documents to beneficiaries of houses provided to freedom fighters here on Friday, he said that the distribution of 2,500 houses under different schemes to beneficiaries is underway.

The houses sanctioned, include 300 houses under the Ambedkar Awas Yojana for 2015-16 and 383 houses for 2016-17.

The houses will be provided to the SCs/STs by spending Rs. 3.50 lakh.

As many as 67 sites were provided to freedom fighters in the second phase of government scheme at Kavadigarhatti and houses will also be constructed on these sites once they are registered in the name of beneficiaries.

The total cost of the houses provided to beneficiaries will be about Rs. 11 lakh, including the site value, he added.

CMC president Manjunath Goppe and CMC commissioner Chandrappa were present.
