They demand his immediate arrest

In a belated move, Congress workers staged a protest here on Monday against the assault on party worker Vivek Shetty allegedly by BJP MLA Bharamagouda alias Raju Kage (Kagwad) and demanded the immediate arrest of Kage, and his family members who are also accused in the case.

The Congress workers took out a procession with Kage’s effigy and burnt it. They also demanded protection to Mr. Shetty.

Anticipatory bail

Meanwhile, the Principal and District Sessions Court is looking into the application seeking anticipatory bail under Section 438 of Cr.P.C. for the accused persons. As the Public Prosecutor has sought time for filing objections, the case has been posted for January 21, sources said.

BJP report

The Belagavi district BJP unit headed by Vishwanath Patil has filed a report on the happenings to the State president B.S. Yeddyurappa. Mr. Patil said Mr. Yeddyurappa had sought for a report immediately after the incident came to light. He said Kage was not absconding but did not answer when asked if the police was not taking steps to arrest him.
