Confusion over VTU circular

February 09, 2017 03:14 pm | Updated 03:14 pm IST - BELAGAVI

A circular issued by the office of the Registrar (Evaluation) of Visvesvaraya Technological University has sent a confusing message to the student community.

The circular, which was issued on February 7 and also posted on VTU’s official website, stated that ‘the Transcripts, Provisional Degree Certificates, Attestation of Marks Cards and other documents will not be issued to the students from 8th February 2017. Further, the circular stated that the students, however, could send their applications along with requisite fee through post.

The circular fails to mention if the decision of not issuing these certificates to the students was indefinitely from February 8, leading to confusion.

However, when contacted, Registrar (Evaluation) Satish Annigeri told The Hindu that these certificates would not be issued only on February 8 and 9 in view of certain other preoccupations of the VTU officers and staff during these two days. Admitting error in the circular, he said he would get it corrected and issue a fresh corrected circular.
