As the 17th National Jamboree of Bharat Scouts & Guides entered its fourth day on Sunday, the mood at V.P. Deenadayalu Naidu Nagar at the Adakanahalli Industrial Area near Mysuru was upbeat as scouts and guides from across the country had the experience of their lifetime.

The jamboree site resembles a ‘mini–India’ with the participation of cubs, bulbuls, scouts and guides with diverse cultures.

Jamboree is an event that provides an opportunity to participating scouts and guides to learn from each other and cherish the memories for rest of their life.

The activities at the jamboree are physically and intellectually challenging.

The adventure area swarmed with participants on Sunday who wanted to test their strengths taking part in activities like obstacle crossing.

Braving the heat and dust, the activities of the participants were witnessed by parents, who thronged the site on Sunday with visitor passes. Visitors were served lunch at the venue as many of them had come from faraway places.

Scouts from Bihar, Gopal Kumar and Gautham Kumar, were thrilled after taking part in the adventure activities.

While participants were few at the barbed wire crawl, there were many for rope walking.

In addition to adventure events, there was rifle shooting and archery for which there were longer queues with many wanting to try their hand.

“Our children will get to know each others’ cultures and learn to live mutually. This kind of congregations helps to develop friendships and makes them stronger,” felt many parents, who visited the jamboree on Sunday.

A group of dozen guides from Bengaluru North said, “They had heard about jamboree but we are experiencing it now. Seeing such a large assembly of guides from across the country is indeed glad and helps us learn from everyone.”
