N. Ramakrishna, an Assistant Police Constable (APC) attached to the District Armed Reserve (DAR) Police, Mandya, was dismissed from service following his attempt to “provoke the police constables to stage a protest” in the district.

Mr. Ramakrishna, who had been serving in the department for the past 13 years, had staged a flash protest outside the DAR office here on Saturday urging the higher-officials to address some grievances of the DAR personnel.

He displayed placards for some minutes and demanded the police department to address the woes of DAR constables. However, he was immediately taken into the police custody for interrogation.

Dismissed

After an inquiry, C.H. Sudheer Kumar Reddy, Superintendent of Police, has issued an order of dismissing the APC from the service under certain Article of the Constitution of India 1949.

According to the order of dismissal, a copy of which is available with The Hindu , Mr. Ramakrishna was found guilty of the charges leveled against him.

He had tried to provoke the police constables in the district to stage a protest and also attempted to halt the police system, the order stated.

Appeal

Meanwhile, the dismissed APC said that he would launch a legal battle against Mr. Reddy’s order.
