A group of lawyers under the banner ’Advocates Forum for Democracy’ today urged Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj to dismiss complaints filed before him seeking permission to prosecute Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa over land scam allegations.

The advocates, who marched in a procession from the High Court to Raj Bhavan, in a memorandum, requested the Governor not to “pre-judge” the fact-finding investigations of two statutory bodies - Lokayukta and the Judicial Commission.

Referring to the complaint filed before the Governor by a Forum of Lawyers, seeking permission to prosecute Mr. Yeddyurappa and Home Minister R Ashoka, the advocates contended that the charge “is ridden with mala fides.”

The lawyers raised slogans like “stop politicisation of Raj Bhavan” and “Raj Bhavan is not extension of No. 10 Janpath” (residential address of Congress President Sonia Gandhi) in a charge against the party for its alleged attempt to misuse the Governor’s office.

The BJP government at its cabinet meeting on Wednesday had passed a resolution urging the Governor not to give consent to prosecute the Chief Minister and Home Minister.
