80 per cent of Nandan, Rohini’s assets owned as Infosys shares

Congress candidate for the Bangalore South constituency Nandan Nilekani, who filed his nomination papers on Friday, declared that almost 80 per cent of his and his wife Rohini Nilekani’s Rs. 7,700-crore assets is owned as shares in Infosys Ltd., the software services company that he and five others founded in 1981.

His 83.25 lakh shares in the company are worth Rs. 3192.7 crore and Ms. Rohini Nilekani holds over 75.01 lakh shares worth Rs. 2,869 crore.

Mr. Nilekani owns a 5,400-sq.ft plot worth Rs. 8.5 crore in Koramangala, Bangalore, and is one of the 12 joint owners of two ancestral farmland and property in Sirsi in Uttara Kannada.

His Koramangala residence, built on a 19,200-sq.ft plot, is worth Rs. 34 crore and is in the name of his wife.

Mr. Nilekani owns gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs. 1.23 crore, more than double that of his wife’s in value. Ms. Rohini Nilekani has invested in art work worth around Rs. 1.28 crore.

Mr. Nilekani has declared in advance their incomes for 2013-14: his at Rs. 97.84 crore and Ms. Rohini Nilekani’s at Rs. 70.57 crore.

The two hold several high-value deposits in multiple banks — interestingly all in the private sector, and mutual funds.

The couple have no liabilities.
