June 16, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - Mysuru:

Despite many schemes like Anna Bhagya, 662 children in Mysuru district are suffering from malnutrition, said zilla panchayat president B. Pushpa Amarnath.

Ms. Amarnath, who was speaking at the food awareness programme organised jointly by the ZP and the Food and Civil Supplies Department on Monday, said that 662 children in the district were suffering from malnutrition. Of them, 120 children were given treatment and nutrient supplements.

She said that the ZP wanted to treat the remaining children and provide them nutritious food. The ZP also plans to initiate steps involving anganwadi workers, teachers and health workers to ensure that not even a single child suffered from malnutrition in the district.
