64% turn-out in Kalaburagi till 3 p.m.

Except for a few incidents, polling in the second phase of Gram Panchayat elections in Kalaburagi, held on Tuesday was peaceful.

The Kalaburagi District recorded 64 per cent polling till 3 p.m. The voting percentage is expected to touch 75 by 5 p.m.

The scorching heat did not deter the enthusiasm of the voters to exercise their franchise.

Even though voting started in a brisk pace with polling percentage standing at just 7 per cent in the first two hours. At 3 p.m., with just two hours for the polls to end, polling percentage hovered at 64. However, a last minute enthusiasm would pushed the figures to higher per cent.

There were 11,56,146 eligible voters in the District. Polling was held to elect 4,214 members in a total of 243 Gram Panchayats in Kalaburagi district. A total of 10,319 contenders were in fray.
