60-year-old farmer commits suicide

Another farmer committed suicide by allegedly consuming pesticide in Bonhal village in Surpur taluk in Yadgir district on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Ningappa Devappa (60) of Bonhal village.

Arun Kumar Kulkarni, Surpur tahsildar, said that officials are checking the details of loans that the farmer had taken. He owned eight acres of land in the village and cultivated the cotton crop which damaged severely due to drought, Mr Kulkarni added.

A case has been registered in Surpur police station.
