Chandrayaan-2, Hampi to be displayed during Jamboo Savari

The State’s rich cultural diversity will unfold at the Dasara procession – Jamboo Savari – here on Tuesday during the finale of the Navaratri festivities.

The traditions prevalent in districts across the State will be featured in the form of tableaux.

As many as 39 tableaux will be part of the procession and the authorities say a lot of emphasis has been given this year to improving their quality.

One tableau from each district will be featured and the artists who have arrived here are giving finishing touches to the depictions at the APMC yard.

Issues such as floods and drought are being featured in the procession since many parts of the State were in the grip of floods this year. Besides districts, government institutions such as Kannada and Culture Department, Information and Public Relations Department, and the Cauvery Niravari Nigama Ltd. have come forward to feature their work.

Belagavi floods

Belagavi faced severe floods this year. To highlight how the calamity hit the lives of the people, Belagavi district’s tableau will feature this issue. Same in the case of Bagalakot district. It will also give an overview on the rehabilitation efforts. Each district will have a theme that will be educative and portray the cultural diversity of the land.

Chandrayaan-2 is being featured by Bengaluru and Fit India by Shivamogga.

Hampi, the UNESCO world heritage site, will be featured in the tableau by Ballari district. The richness of the sculptures that form the ruins at the ancient site will be represented in the procession. Some districts will be featuring government schemes such as Ayushman Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana to educate the crowds.

Kodagu witnessed floods and landslips this year too and the district has come up with a representation on this. The birth centenary of the last maharaja of Mysuru, Jayachamaraja Wadiyar, is being celebrated this year. To mark the occasion, Mysuru district’s tableau represents the contributions of the maharaja.
