‘30 p.c. of funds for H-K region will be used for quality education’

Minister for Municipal Administration and Waqf Qamarul Islam, said that about 30 per cent of the funds allocated for Hyderabad Karnataka Region Development Board (HKRDB) would be utilised to impart quality education, develop infrastructure and enhance gross enrolment ratio of students in higher education in the six districts of the Hyderabad-Karnataka region.

The Minister inaugurated the week-long ‘Faculty Development Programme On Effective Teaching, Learning and Research Skills Towards Global Standards In Higher Education’ organised by APPA Institute of Engineering and Technology and Godutai Engineering College for Women here in Kalaburagi on Thursday. Addressing the faculty, he said teachers should update their skills on a continuous basis to meet the educational requirements of students.

He added that such faculty development programmes would help to impart training to faculty members and equip them to deal with innovative and creative methods of teaching and also get tuned to technological advancements.

He lauded the contribution of the president of the Sharabasaveshwar Vidhya Vardhak Sangh Sharanabasawappa Appa for his service to the field of education in theregion. The institution was providing quality education and making the students competitive enough to challenge the students from developed regions, he added.

Subject experts from different States including Maharashtra, Telangana and Tamil Nadu will be participating in the six-day programme to hold sessions on various topics such as Nanotechnology, research challenges and opportunities in image processing, effective teaching methodology, teaching aids and ethics in work place etc.
