Around 16 schoolchildren suffered injuries when a school van turned turtle near Shravanabelagola this morning. Twenty-three students from nearby villages were on their way to Simhadri School at Shravanabelagola. The driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a curve near Haruvanahalli-Manjunathapura Cross.

The children have been taken to community health centre at Shravanabelagola. All are out of danger, said doctors. Senior police officers have reached the spot.

Vehicles ferrying schoolchildren have come under the scanner after the accident in Trasi near Udupi, when eight children where killed after their van collided with a private bus.
