11-member House panel to inspect lakes

The 11-member House committee set up to probe encroachment of lakes will inspect all affected water bodies in and around the city.

Panel chairperson K.B. Koliwad on Tuesday told presspersons that although there are 1,400 lakes in and around the city, encroachments have been cleared from only seven so far. “There is a need to conduct a survey of each lake by the Revenue Department. We need more than 200 surveyors for this task,” he said.

Encroachments removed

So far, the Revenue Department has removed encroachments on 985 acres and BDA on 62 acres 27 guntas.
