11 die in two accidents in State

Eleven persons were killed in two accidents in Yadgir and Belagavi districts in the last 24 hours.

As many as eight persons, including three children, died and 67 were injured in an accident involving a mini-lorry and another lorry carrying fly ash from Shaktinagar to Wadi, near Ramasamudra village in Yadgir taluk on Monday evening. According to initial information from authorities at the district hospital, six persons were brought dead and two died in the hospital.“They were all returning from Shahpur to Ganapur village in Yadgir after attending an engagement function at Bhimarayanagudi in Shahpur taluk,” the police said.

In another incident in Belagavi, three members of a family from Kalghatgi in Dharwad district were killed when a truck hit their car by which they were going to Goa, on Dharwad-Ramnagar road, near Astoli village of Khanapur taluk, on Sunday night. The dead were identified as Manjunath Banare (35), wife Pavitra (30), and their son Samarth (2).

The police blamed the accident on the truck driver, who is absconding. A case has been registered at the Khanapur police station.
