Spokesperson of Medanta Hospital hospital, where he was shifted, confirmed to The Hindu that Dhruv breathed his last around 3 a.m. He was placed on life support a day after he was shot. The teenager's father judge Krishant Kant decided to donate his organs.

Dhruv's mother, Ritu Kant, 37, who was shot in the abdomen and chest, had died a few hours after she was shot.

The mother-son due were getting into their car after shopping in the afternoon when constable Mahipal shot them point-blank. The boy was shot twice in the head and once in the shoulder.

Accused Mahipal was arrested on Gurugram-Faridabad Road two hours after the attack.

The police claimed the accused had shot the duo following a sudden provocation. Mahipal lost his temper when the judge’s wife and son scolded him for being untraceable after they had finished their shopping and he shot them in a fit of rage, said the police.
