The Left parties on Friday decided to hold demonstrations from February 23 to 25 against attempts to brand them “anti-nationals” and what they see as right-wing attacks on citizens’ constitutional rights.

Later, a delegation of CPI(M), CPI, NCP, RJD and JD(U) leaders met President Pranab Mukherjee and conveyed to him their concern over what they saw as right-wing assaults on institutions such as Jawaharlal Nehru University, the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, Hyderabad University and the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai. The President is believed to have said that he would look into the matter.
