In a setback to investigations into the killing of Kerala fishermen allegedly by two Italian marines in February last year, four of their colleagues who were witnesses in the case, have refused to come to India for questioning by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The NIA, which is probing the case, had asked the four Italian marines to come to India for their deposition in the case, but, according to government sources, they have refused to obey the summons.
Ready for video-con
The witnesses have, however, conveyed to the NIA that they were ready for appearance through video conferencing or to reply to their written questions. They have also agreed to present themselves for questioning before a team of NIA in Italy, sources said.
