India sore at blackout at envoy’s house

Power supply to the residence of an Indian diplomat in Islamabad was cut for nearly four hours last Tuesday, following which the Indian High Commission took up the issue with the Pakistan Foreign Ministry, official sources said.

In a note verbale to the Ministry, the Indian mission said there was no electrical fault at the residence of the second secretary, suggesting power was cut deliberately, the sources said.

The incident comes amid Pakistan not granting gas connections to the new residential building of the Indian High Commission despite repeated requests.
