The Supreme Court on Wednesday said it would consider on November 27 a plea by the father of Hadiya, also known as Akhila, who converted to Islam and subsequently married a Muslim man, to hold in-camera proceedings to hear his daughter’s statements.
A three-judge Bench, led by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, asked Asokan, the father, to make a mention of his plea on November 27, the very day she is scheduled to be produced before the court.
The Supreme Court is expected to ask Hadiya questions on whether she converted under duress or of her own free will.
