IIMs to discuss research and ‘Indianisation’

The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) will sponsor a seminar that will see directors of the prestigious Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) brainstorm on how Indian management practices can become the focus of management research in the country, apart from the use of “western models,” as is being done now.

IIM Tiruchirappalli will organise the seminar sometime in October, said an official of the ICSSR. “A profound discussion is required on Indianisation of management research,” said the official, explaining the rationale for the seminar, which would be conducted by the host IIM and partly or wholly funded by the premier social science research body.

The seminar will figure out how management research can be relevant to policies like ‘Make In India’.
