If an agency is involved, culprits must be punished, says Shinde

Updated - December 04, 2021 11:20 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on Wednesday downplayed the tussle between the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Central Bureau of Investigation over the alleged role of an IB official in the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case, saying a decision would be taken on the basis of an ongoing inquiry.

“An inquiry is going on [in the case], and a decision will be taken on the basis of the inquiry. I have told categorically that if an agency is involved, culprits [IB officials] must be punished,” he said.

“I know there has been a difference of opinion, but we will get all the information,” he said.
