Militant organisation Hizbul Mujahideen on Thursday expelled one of its top commanders in Kashmir, holding him responsible for a series of attacks on the telecommunication system in north Kashmir about six weeks ago. Six civilians were killed in the attacks.
In a statement to a local news agency, the Muzaffarabad-based Hizb chief, Syed Salah-ud-din, announced the outfit’s decision to take action against Abdul Qayoom Najar.
“Abdul Qayoom Najar is no more a part of the Hizbul Mujahideen and he should not be linked with the organisation,” Hizb’s Pakistan-based spokesman Saleem Hashmi, quoting Syed Salah-ud-din, told Current News Service .
Hashmi told the CNS that Salah-ud-din, during his address to the Hizb Command Council, had announced the decision to cancel the basic membership of Najar “as he (Najar) played a key role in murder of some innocent persons. ”
