High on gloss and low on substance, says BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday described the Congress manifesto as a “document of deceit” which was “low on substance and high on gloss.”

“The entire manifesto appears to be devoid of credibility, bereft of substance and lacking in seriousness. It is not a manifesto but a document of deceit...an insult to the people of India and the statistics that it offers on poverty reduction are a fraud,” senior party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

He rubbished the Congress’s claims of inclusive growth and its schemes for addressing the concerns of minorities. “Minority benefit has only been limited to those Muslims who are close to the Congress. Nothing has been done for the poor Muslims. Gujarat has the best rate of development for Muslims,” Mr. Prasad said.

“They promise eight per cent-plus growth, while the growth rate is 4.6 per cent. Can there be a greater fraud? The Congress talks about fighting corruption on a day they gave Ashok Chavan a ticket,” he said.

“The real issue is good governance, employment for all, doing away with policy paralysis and cutting down red tape,” Mr. Prasad added.
