One civilian was killed and another injured as unidentified gunmen opened fire in Pulwama early on Wednesday.

Preliminary reports suggested gunmen barged into the house of Nageena Jan in Pulwama’s Kakapora area and opened indiscriminate fire.

According to police sources, Jan died in the attack. Another civilian, Jalaludin Bhufanda, was seriously injured. He was taken to a hospital in Srinagar, said the police.

Jan’s husband, Muhammad Yousuf Lone, was earlier killed by unknown gunmen on May 19, 2017.

Security forces cordoned off the area after the incident.
