Deeply hurt by the controversial statement of All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader >Asaduddin Owaisi that he would not chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai ,’ a nonagenarian of Bihar fell unconscious on Wednesday. When she regained consciousness on Thursday, she asked her son to file a complaint against the AIMIM leader for sedition.

Rasidan Khatoon was watching news on Doordarshan on Wednesday when she heard the AIMIM leader saying he would not chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ even if a knife was put to his throat. “She was so deeply hurt that she fell from the cot and became unconscious. She had to be hospitalised and later she asked me to file a complaint against the AIMIM leader,” said Mohd Qurban Ansari, Ms. Khatoon’s son. “He is a traitor and should be sent to jail,” she told mediapersons in Gopalganj.

On Thursday, Mr. Ansari lodged a complaint against the AIMIM leader and Hyderabad MP with the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Gopalganj district.

‘A true patriot’

“My mother is a true patriot and she is shocked,” said Mr. Ansari in his complaint. He said his mother had actively participated in the country’s freedom struggle. “She doesn’t like anyone talking against the country,” Mr. Ansari said.
