Former Uttar Pradesh Minister and Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) leader Yakub Quraishi was on Thursday booked for allegedly defending the terror attack on the French satirical magazine Charlie Hedbo. He had allegedly defended the attack saying disrespect to the Prophet Mohammad should invite death.

The police took cognisance of Mr. Quraishi's statement and registered a case after it was reported by the media on Wednesday.
“We filed the case on the complaint of Inspector Lal Singh. Action will be taken only after further investigation,” the Senior Superintendent of Police Omkar Singh told The Hindu .
“I can't speculate about the action to be taken but we will have to verify if at all he has made the statement and what exactly he has said,” added the SSP.
The BSP leader was unavailable for comments when The Hindu tried to reach him through phone.
