Police have registered an FIR against unknown persons for allegedly abetting the alleged suicide of a JNU student here two days ago.

Provisions pertaining to the Prevention of Atrocities against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act would also be slapped. This had been a demand of the father of 28-year-old J. Muthukrishnan, who did not leave any suicide note but mentioned in several Facebook posts the discrimination he faced.

Earlier, the police said the posts would also be a part of the investigation. However, in order to establish the circumstances that pushed him to take the extreme step, the police said, it would be necessary to find out his activities in the three days between the death and the time he wrote those posts. Foul play was ruled out prima facie.
