Thousands of farmers will take out a rally on vehicles from Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh on July 6 to mark one month of the police firing that killed five farmers.
Nearly 200 farmers’ organisations, under the banner of the Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Sangharsh Samanvay Samiti (ABKSSS), have planned the rally, which is expected to be attended by Patidar leader Hardik Patel.
“The rally is expected to cover five districts of western Madhya Pradesh — Ratlam, Ujjain, Indore, Dewas and Barwani,” said former Madhya Pradesh MLA Paras Sakhlecha, a member of the ABKSSS.
The rally will then enter Maharashtra and go on to Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, before culminating in a protest in New Delhi on July 18.
Meanwhile, the Mandsaur police said they had lifted Section 144 in the area, which was imposed after the farmers’ protest turned violent.
“There is no restriction now on conducting a rally,” Mandsaur Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Singh said.
