Ex-MP, 3 others get lifer in murder case

A district court on Wednesday awarded life sentence to former Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Vijay Krishna and three others found guilty in the murder case of a Janata Dal (United) leader four years ago.

The court of Additional District Judge (ADJ) Nand Kumar Shrivastava awarded life sentence to the four.

The court also imposed a penalty of Rs. 30,000 on the ex-MP and Rs. 35,000 on his son Chanakya Singh.

Krishna’s servant Gagan and bodyguard Umesh Singh were awarded a penalty of Rs 6,000 each.

The same court had found the four guilty on Monday and reserved order for announcing quantum of punishment for Wednesday.

Krishna, his son and two others were present in the court when the verdict was announced.

JD (U) leader and transporter Satyendra Singh was killed in Patna in 2009 and his body thrown in the Ganga river locked in an iron box. It was fished out by the police later on. Public Prosecutor Jaiprakash Singh pleaded death sentence for all the four in the heinous crime. —
