Election Commission examining Rahul’s reply

A decision will be taken soon, says Chief Election Commissioner V.S. Sampath

The Election Commission on Friday conducted a preliminary examination of Congress vice-president >Rahul Gandhi’s reply to its October 31 notice on violation of the model code of conduct.

Chief Election Commissioner V.S. Sampath told journalists that a decision would be taken soon.

Mr. Gandhi was given time till Friday 11 a.m. to send his reply. The EC had served the notice on him for saying — at rallies in Churu and Indore — that Pakistan’s ISI was cultivating Muzaffarnagar riot victims and the BJP was indulging in politics of hatred. The BJP took up the matter with the Commission.
