Don't argue, Judge tells doctor

September 28, 2011 01:45 am | Updated August 04, 2016 01:48 am IST - NEW DELHI:

A senior nephrologist at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences who had come to the special court on Tuesday to explain the report submitted by the Institute on Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh's medical condition was asked by Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal to redo the report in a chart or a tabular form on a day-to-day basis to indicate the progress in the former Samajwadi Party leader's vital parameters.

When the judge asked some probing questions on the report, the doctor remarked: “You seem to be doubting a doctor's report.”

“Doubting is my job. Have you compared the earlier reports submitted with this report?” Ms. Sehgal asked.

“He is still on antibiotics. It is a medical case for me and a legal case for you. He has to be in hospital now. How many days will it take you to pronounce your judgment in the case?” the doctor quizzed the judge.

“Don't argue with me. You can't ask me questions. You just answer my questions,” the judge warned. “How many days more do you want to keep him in hospital?”

When the doctor responded that Mr. Amar Singh would need to stay for at least 10 days, the judge asked: “Is it possible for him to travel right now?” To which the doctor responded: “No.”
