Disclose minutes of AAP meeting: Mayank

March 08, 2015 02:09 am | Updated November 16, 2021 06:49 pm IST - MUMBAI:

Mayank Gandhi, Aam Aadmi Party leader from Mumbai, piled more pressure on the leadership, demanding the disclosure of the minutes of the March 4 meeting of the national executive that eased out Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan from the Political Affairs Committee.

“All minutes of the meeting signed by all members of all committees in the country should be released on the next day of the meeting to volunteers and supporters,” Mr. Gandhi wrote on his personal blog.

Defending his decision to reveal a few details of the national executive meeting, he said it was a “well-thought-out and conscious decision to write the blogs to uphold the higher principle of transparency.”

“I have given some glimpses into the happenings in the NE [national executive], but the complete minutes should be in the public domain. My description could have some shortcomings and may contain some probable bias, but the minutes will be authentic records,” he said.

In his earlier letter, Mr. Gandhi said he was taken aback by the resolution to remove both leaders publicly, especially since they themselves had been willing to leave. “Some dissatisfied members from Maharashtra have started giving interviews against me; some old cases are being reopened. A concerted attempt is being made in the social media to call me anti-party and anti-AK [Arvind Kejriwal],” he said, adding the party could delay the decision to contest the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections due in 2017.

Claiming that the attacks would increase, Mr. Gandhi said: “That was what was planned for YY [Yogendra Yadav] and PB [Prashant Bhushan], but they overturned that plan by staying in the party.”

He asserted that what he had done did not amount to a rebellion, and he would not go to the press on these issues.
