Delhi HC stays transit remand of Gautam Navlakha

The HC says he will be put under house arrest till it hears the case on Wednesday morning.

Activist Gautam Navlakha, who was arrested by the Pune police from his residence in South Delhi’s Nehru Enclave on Tuesday afternoon, got a reprieve from the Delhi High Court.

The High Court stayed the remand obtained by the police from a local court to take Mr Navlakha to a court in Pune.

Earlier, the police seized a laptop, mobile phones and disk drives from the residence of Mr. Navlakha in the presence of the Delhi Police (Special Cell) SWAT team..

The High Court said he would be put under house arrest till it heard the case on Wednesday morning.

“The situation in this country is such that anyone can be arrested for speaking against the establishment’, said Sahba Hussain, an associate of Mr. Navlakha.
