Dara Singh’s chances bleak: doctors

Chances of recovery look bleak for wrestler-turned-actor Dara Singh, who has been battling for his life for the past four days in a city hospital, authorities said on Wednesday.

“We did the MRI and CT scan test. There has been significant damage to the brain due to lack of oxygen. It is unlikely that with such severe damage he will be able to regain consciousness. We did what we could. The outlook is bleak. Essentially, he will slip into a comatose state,” Ram Narain, Executive Director of the private hospital where Mr. Singh is admitted, told The Hindu .

The eighty-four-year-old Mr. Singh was rushed to the hospital after he collapsed following a cardiac arrest. “For the first 10 to 15 minutes there was no oxygen to the brain. After coming here we first had to resuscitate him. He was very unstable for the first day. He is on medicines and ventilator support, but nothing more can be done. Hope is very low,” Mr. Narain said. The family has been apprised of the situation.
