Karti Chidambaram arrives at Patiala House Court in New Delhi on March 06, 2018, being produced by the CBI.

A Delhi court on Wednesday extended protection from arrest to Karti Chidambaram till July 10 in two cases filed by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate connected with the Aircel-Maxis deal arising out of the 2G spectrum case.

Special Judge O.P. Saini extended the protection when the Directorate sought time to argue on Mr. Karti Chidambaram’s application, seeking anticipatory bail in the matter.

The counsel for the Directorate sought adjournment of the hearing on the bail application, submitting that a related matter was pending before the Supreme Court and it would be taken up for hearing on July 2.

The CBI counsel concurred with the Directorate’s argument and sought adjournment.

The court had on April 16 granted interim protection from arrest to Mr. Karti Chidambaram till May 2 as both the probe agencies had sought time to file replies to the bail application.
