Former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, who heads the Congress’ manifesto committee, asked citizens to send in their suggestions on what the party’s agenda should be for 2019 even as its core group on Thursday reviewed organisational preparedness.

“I appeal to all persons interested in contributing ideas to the Congress Manifesto to send their suggestions to http://manifesto.inc.in Alternatively, please send an email to manifesto@inc.in Or send a WhatsApp message to 72920 88245,” tweeted Mr. Chidambaram.

Earlier, the core group also met with the Congress in-charges of various states to discuss the party's organisational preparedness, especially the Jan Sampark (public outreach) programme that the party units had launched last October.

Apart from it being a public programme, the party is also using the Jan Sampark programme as a means of collecting fund and contact details of potential supporters.

Congress leaders who are part of the nine-member core committee include former Defence Minister A.K. Antony, party treasurer Ahmed Patel, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad and former Union minister Jairam Ramesh.

Sources said a meeting of the data analytics department has also been scheduled to review the progress of state Congress units in adopting the party’s internal app, Shakti, that was extensively used in the recent elections of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

“Today, the leaders reviewed our activity in the states, whether we have filled up the various organisational posts, status reports of various campaigns, etc.,” said one of the State Congress chiefs who didn’t wish to be quoted.
