Welcoming the Supreme Court's refusal to stay the Andhra Pradesh High Court's verdict quashing the minority sub-quota, the BJP has accused the Congress-led UPA of pursuing a ‘communal agenda' for vote-bank politics.
Party spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman told a news conference here that the electorate of Uttar Pradesh had taught a fitting lesson to the Congress in the recent Assembly elections. The Cabinet had announced the sub-quota for minorities on the eve of announcement of Assembly elections to five States.
“The Congress has been steadfastly and continuously following the communal agenda. We saw it in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. In spite of the results in these elections giving the message that voters have rejected the communal agenda, the Congress hasn't learnt its lessons,” she said.
