Congress members, led by party vice president Rahul Gandhi, on Tuesday protested outside parliament here, demanding the ouster of Gen V.K. Singh (retd) as union minister for his ‘stoning dogs’ remark after Dalit killings.

“The person who speaks against Dalits has no right to be a Minister,” Ghulam Nabi Azad told the media.

“He must be terminated from the position and the prime minister must take a decision to remove him,” he added.

Asked to comment on two Dalit children being burnt to death in Haryana’s Faridabad, the former army chief had said it was a local incident and as it happens, t > hat even if a stone is thrown at a dog, the central government is held responsible. The remark was widely criticised.
