The Congress had operated a remote-controlled government from New Delhi, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, accusing the opposition party of fostering a “climate of middlemen” and “toying with country’s security.”

He said it was only through the efforts of the BJP government that Christian Michel, the alleged middleman in the AgustaWestland chopper deal, was extradited to India.

“What is the connection between Michel and Rafale deal. Why wasn’t the Rafale deal completed during the two terms of the Congress government? While agencies are probing these questions, even the public wants an answer to them,” said Mr. Modi at a public meeting in Solapur.
