Cong. hand in glove with Maoists: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday accused the Congress of being hand in glove with CPI (Maoists) to “stop the Modi juggernaut” in next year’s Lok Sabha polls by spreading “chaos” in the country.

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra told a press conference that a letter, purportedly written by the proscribed outfit to an affiliated person talking of funding allegedly received by the Congress, proved its accusation. “The document has exposed the Congress like never before and has stripped it of every cloth of modesty,” said Mr. Patra.

Asked where he had sourced the letter from, Mr. Patra said, “we [the BJP] had drawn it from the pool in the media.”

Quoting from the letter, Mr. Patra said it proved that Dalits were being used as a tool in the Bhima-Koregaon violence in Maharashtra around the New Year and that protests were not spontaneous but a “manufactured” agitation.

“While the BJP believes in ‘Sampark for Samarthan’ [contact for support], the Congress believes in sparking chaos to grab power,” he said. “The real face of the Congress has been exposed. It is a serious allegation,” he added, demanding that Rahul Gandhi explain his party’s role in the matter.
